Committee Bios

George Taft (Chairman, Fundraising, Location):  George has followed the pagan path for most of his adult life.  He had practiced his beliefs alone since the '70's until joining the local community in the '90's.  George was raised with many of the family traditions that his parents had followed.  With this as his basis, he has developed his beliefs and continues his growth on a personal level.

Lea Rush (Vice Chair, E-List Administrator, Promotional Products, Webmistress):

John Bartley (Advertising):

Ofelia (Art Gallery): A life long red headed witch (although only self-realized a decade ago).  Ofelia is a natural herb kitchen witch.  she has been practicing Wicca and paganism for many years, completed the Lyceum of Trees year and a day classes a year ago and then taught the same classes.  She is a loving wife and is busy raising her sons as young spiritual pagans.

Bacchus (Bardic Circle): Bacchus (aka Skipper Fuller) is a leather-worker, cordial maker and a passable bard.  He enjoys music of various kinds, games of all kinds, reading, writing, leather working, designing houses and buildings of strange varieties, anime, RPG's, movies, gems and crystals, steel and weapons and chocolate!

KaTerra (Community Outreach, Rituals):  KaTerra has been known in the local Pagan Community for the last 8 years.  In 2004 she became the May Queen at the Spiritual Anarchist Beltane.  She currently celebrates the Wheel of the Year with her pagan family in The Sacred Grove at Oak, Rowan & Yew.  She has graduated from PSU with a BS in Sculpture.  The process of obtaining her degree involved several shows and critiques.  KaTerra has worked with Magickal Winter Weekend for the past three years and has stated, "This event is overdue in this community.  I'm excited about understanding different paths, sharing with others, and having a wonderful time in the dark of the year."

Lunetta (Constabulary):  Lunetta discovered the Magickal Winter Weekend family at OryCon and has been volunteering ever since.  This eclectic Witch has been a practicing solitaire for over six years and is immensely enjoying her journey to find the path that works for her.  A security officer for over seven years and a security supervisor for six, she juggles a busy schedule stating, "If you can do for two years what other people won't, you can do for the rest of your life what other people can't!"

Ruth Timmons (Fundraising, Sponsors):

Damietta d'Carnivalle (Goodie Bags): Damietta is relatively new to the Pagan landscape, though this is her second year working with the Magickal Winter Weekend Committee. A 5th -generation Army brat, Damietta loves to talk, read, and garnd (not necessarily in that order) whether in the ground or in pots.

Jason Lingel (Hospitality):

Torric (Floyd Bullock - Logistics): is a remodeler, landscaper, artist, model Railroader and Lyceum of Trees groupie.  I have been hanging with the Pagan community for the last two years and a day.  Attended Magickal Winter Weekend last year, enjoyed the experience and wanted to teach others what knowledge he has has about landscaping, but from a Pagan perspective!  He is also running the Art Gallery.

Gyelle (Programming): The "Crafty Crone", I am very interested n the use of crafts in spellcraft.  Through continuing study and interest in my relationship with Deity, I have come to believe I am a Devout, Eclectic, Non-Exclusivist.  I believe there are many paths, all leading to the same source.  I helped to found Lyceum of Trees in 2000 for the purpose of study, celebration, and to fill a hole we say in the local community: basic Pagan training without commitment to a specific tradition.  Lyceum continues to offer entry level classes to help people make informed choices and will have classes in both Portland and Salem areas in 2008.  With great joy, I was ordained in 2006.  I love rituals of life transitions and am happy to facilitate whenever asked.  I am a Registered Counselor and Mental Health Case Manager.

Wendy L. Graves (Productions & Drumming, Website Maintenance):  Though this is Wendy's first year on the committee for Magickal Winter Weekend she has been an enthusiastic participant since its inception in 2005.  A Desert-Storm era Marine, actress, singer-songwriter and djembe drummer she brings a wide array of experience to our family.  She also volunteers with the Columbia River Detachment of the Marine Corps League, is a reader and database manager for OPB's Accessible Information Network, is the past Secretary and an ongoing performer with the Salem Community Drum Circle and is Secretary and volunteer with Phoenix Rising, the original Oregon Country Fair cookie booth!

Laughing Vergil (Publications): is one of the co-founders of Lyceum of Trees, a nondenominational paga group intended to help the new, interested, and uncertain learn something of paganism before dedicating themselves to a specfic path.  He describes himself as a Relaxed Agnostic Pagan with a touch of Discordian, was ordained in 2006 after more than three yearsof study and classes, and enjoys life with his partner, Gyelle.

Arrhiannon (Registration/Memberships, Secretary):  Arrhiannon has been a member of Lyceum of Trees since 2002 when she initiated into the group.  She is a member of the Inner Council and the Board of Directors.  She has been a professional educator for over 30 years and is considered an Elder and Crone.  She has been a solitary practitioner and forces on the Celtic pantheon, especially of ancient Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England.

Sarah ():

Deanna Bryant (Technical):

Barbara Oldham (Treasurer):  A native Oregonian, Barbara was born and raised in Portland.  She still considers herself new to the Pagan path though she has been a friend to the community for many years and a presence at many science fiction conventions since 1987.

Mama Gaea (Vendors):  Mama Gaea has been proactive in the Pagan Community for over 9 years.  She founded Portland Pagan Pride in 1999 and it is still going strong.  She directs G.A.E.A Project, which produces monthly public Full Moon rituals and works with other oganizations to promote bridge building and community participation.

WaterWizard (Volunteers):  Waterwizard has been playing with water in one form or another for many lifetimes.  He believes we create the universe as we go along.  Has been a pagan for about 20 minutes, only because he did not understand the meaning of the word before that.  Has heard of one myth about someone walking on water, can you believe that!  Is currently working on the cat fur repelling ritual.
